As a school leader, you should try to initiate growth in all of your staff members. For some of your most talented staff members standard professiona0l development may not be enough. For those who show an aptitude for leadership, it is your job to provide them with opportunities for growth. Creating committees, advisory teams, and other empowered groups allows these staff members to really shine. Keep in mind, that these employees should not be viewed as competition for your position. Think of them as the future generation of leaders or the future guardians of the profession that you love. Your willingness to mentor young leaders may make the difference in the level of satisfaction that they have with their careers.
